SHOULD CANADA BE IN AFGHANISTAN?

"Seeing no benefits for Afghans from the occupation, most people we interviewed [in Afghanistan] want an end to the Western occupation despite the growing power of the Taliban in some regions of the country. The general mood of anger and resentment against the occupying army is palpable. "

Mike Skinner, The McGill Daily

It is interesting how the mainstream media in Canada, unlike Mike Skinner, very seldom asks this same question: what do the people of Afghanistan want? Do they want foreign troops in their country? Instead, the bourgeois media focuses on Canadian troops: what do they want? What are their beliefs? How do we support them?

But it isn't their country, is it? Afghanistan rightly belongs to the Afghans. If they want us out, we should go. Period.
