LEFTY CANLIT, ANYONE?

I sometimes get the impression that there is very little
leftwing Canadian fiction. But maybe I'm just ignorant.
Recommendations, anyone?

SHOULD CANADA BE IN AFGHANISTAN?

"Seeing no benefits for Afghans from the occupation, most people we interviewed [in Afghanistan] want an end to the Western occupation despite the growing power of the Taliban in some regions of the country. The general mood of anger and resentment against the occupying army is palpable. "

Mike Skinner, The McGill Daily
http://www.mcgilldaily.com/view.php?aid=6267

It is interesting how the mainstream media in Canada, unlike Mike Skinner, very seldom asks this same question: what do the people of Afghanistan want? Do they want foreign troops in their country? Instead, the bourgeois media focuses on Canadian troops: what do they want? What are their beliefs? How do we support them?

But it isn't their country, is it? Afghanistan rightly belongs to the Afghans. If they want us out, we should go. Period.

A Book I Just Read: BEST OF ENEMIES by Richard Milton

BEST OF ENEMIES BRITAIN AND GERMANY: 100 YEARS OF TRUTH AND LIES.
Very readable and interesting. Especially interesting is stuff on the major literary figures of the early part of the 20th century, such as George Bernard Shaw and H. G. Wells. Seems a lot of the modernists were arrogant shits who hated the masses and liked to toy with ideas of genocide.

Edited by bestselling author, sex educator and director Tristan Taormino and selected and introduced by novelist and dynamic Sister Spit performer Ali Liebegott, this latest edition of the best-selling lesbian erotica series is transgressive, inventive and breathtaking. In Peggy Munson’s "The Storm Chasers," the rain is not the only deluge when an Amish teen and her friends find refuge from a downpour. Two femme college students finally find each other—and a love as fierce as their desire—in Valerie Alexander’s "Paradise." Radclyffe’s "Sweet No More," snarls, teases and toes the line between pleasure and pain.
